SYDNEY, N.S. — The Sydney Venom are back-to-back champions after a 6-3 victory over the Dartmouth She Devils on Sunday afternoon in the U13 Female Softball Provincials at Neville Park ball field in Whitney Pier.Pitcher Vada Kennedy earned most valuable player honours after pitching a total of 14 innings over the weekend, allowing only one run and four walks while striking out 34. Kennedy also batted 12-for-16 with just one strikeout and a walk for the weekend series.
After going undefeated in round-robin play, the Venom downed the Guysborough Broadhorns 13-2 during the semifinals, while the She Devils beat the Cole Harbour Impact 10-7. Games were held both at Neville Park in Whitney Pier as well as the Saint Anthony Daniel Ball Field in Sydney. The Venom will next head to Fredericton Aug. 26-28 to play in the Eastern Canadian Softball Championships.
