Our society frames homelessness like it’s an individual issue – if only this person had made better choices, then maybe they wouldn’t be homeless. But homelessness isn’t an individual moral failing, it’s a collective failure of our government and society to protect and uphold the most vulnerable people living in our communities. There is no valid reason any Islander should be without access to safe and appropriate housing.

There is not one face of homelessness, and most of us on P.E.I. are a lot closer to homelessness than we are to having an excess of wealth.
