Both physical and mental health have taken an unprecedented hit. Yes, I understand COVID-19 is still here and now there’s also monkeypox to deal with.

There is a positive from all of this and the result is tourism has made a major comeback. My wife and I are currently enjoying our annual vacation in the incomparable landscape of P.E.I. It is beyond heartwarming to go to the music festivals, local restaurants, and gatherings like those at Peakes Quay in Charlottetown and congregate with humans again. I think it is fair to say that the universal lockdown has given everyone a new perspective on social interactions.

Sure, the airlines have more than a few kinks to work out. They will get there. And there are still rules and precautions we must be vigilant about. I’d still like to think we are getting to the other side. To me an inalienable right is to be able to travel and savour this planet we inhabit. Prince Edward Island has always had that ‘x’ factor for me. It showcases an abundance of beautiful beaches, exquisite scenery and their secret weapon, the disarming people.
