The Keefe family immigrated to P.E.I. in the 1830s from Ireland and settled in Kinkora where the family homestead is still owned by the Keefes. A recent reunion of the families saw more than 300 visit the homestead. Two families, one from P.E.I., and the other with deep roots in P.E.I., have collaborated on a new craft beer that will be coming out later this month. From left, are Ron Keefe, owner of the Granite Brewery in Toronto; Trent Hayes, head brewmaster and partner in the Gahan House in Charlottetown; Mary Beth Keefe, head brewmaster with the Granite Brewery; and Kevin Murphy, who launched the Gahan Brewery in 1997.
“So, out of that family reunion, which just happened, we thought it would be a great idea to collaborate between the two cousins and create a new brew in honour of our ancestors, Angeline and John," said Kevin Murphy.
