There were 1,683 new cases confirmed in Nova Scotia Health labs from July 26 to Aug. 2, 2022. - SaltWire / FileFive more people have died of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia but the number of Nova Scotians in hospital dropped slightly.said there were 54 new hospital admissions for the seven-day period ending Aug. 1, 41 hospitalized as of Aug. 2 - which is down one from last week - and eight people in ICU.There were 1,683 new cases confirmed in Nova Scotia Health labs.
The new deaths bring the total in Nova Scotia since the pandemic began to 473, including 361 since the omicron waves began Dec. 8. Also Thursday the IWK Health Centre reported 72 staff off sick with COVID-19 and 15 isolating because they're close contacts. The number of children hospitalized at the IWK with COVID-19 remains below five.
Information from Nova Scotia Health on current hospitalizations of adults and staff absences wasn't immediately available.
