That was his second stroke. His first stroke was in the morning, but he recovered quickly, so they didn’t take it as seriously as they would have now.By the time they arrived at the hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor, too much time had passed for the “clot-buster” drug known as“Instead of being paralyzed like I was, it should have taken some of those symptoms away,” he said. “But if anything, I got worse.”“The neurologist told me there wasn’t a thing I could do in my 36 years,” he said.
The only thing Sam could move was his left arm from the elbow down and his head back and forth. He couldn’t speak and didn’t look like the brother she’d grown up with.They had to devise a strategy to communicate with him. Though he’s capable of speaking now, at the time he could only make noises.
