On a nice day, vehicles line up along the Victoria Park Roadway in Charlottetown. But the park has also become a favourite spot for some campers and RVs, which have been staying past the time when the park closes daily to the public. - SaltWire Network File PhotoCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — On a nice day, vehicles line up along the Victoria Park Roadway in Charlottetown.

Mayor Philip Brown told SaltWire Network the Victoria Park bylaw states the park is to close at midnight and that no one is permitted to stay overnight. However, some have been camping there and the city has taken action to address it. Signage has been placed along the roadway informing tourists they can’t park past midnight and park security, which the city contracts out, has had to knock on a few doors after midnight to inform visitors that they have to move on.

Brown said if at any time someone parks on the road and refuses to leave after midnight, police will be called and the vehicle owner could be towed.
