The public is advised to limit contact with water in Charlottetown harbour after sewage was released into the harbour on Sunday, July 31. - SaltWire NetworkCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The City of Charlottetown is asking residents and visitors to stay out of the water in Charlottetown harbour after sewage flowed into the waterway July 31.
McEwen said the amount of wastewater that poured into the harbour would fill approximately four large swimming pools. "Raw wastewater was discharged into the harbour, but the volume of what went in compared to the volume of water in the harbour, there is quite a bit of dilution that takes place quite quickly," he said. "We’ve issued that as a precaution. Its good to advise the public of that happening so they are aware of it and can minimize their contact with wastewater."
