Watford is set for thunderstorms after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning.

The forecaster has said there could be travel disruption and flooding as the town braces itself for thunder and lightning this evening and overnight.“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services,” the Met Office said.

It added that there is a slight chance of power cuts and disruption to other services to homes and businesses.Temperatures will drop to 10C in Watford overnight with high humidity of up to 90 per cent and showers forecast between 3am and 4am.Residents should prepare candles with matches or lighters, torches and batteries, and a mobile phone power pack in case of power cuts.

If the power does go out, the Met Office advises people to turn off appliances that should not be left unattended but leave one light switched on to see when the electricity returns. Drivers are also advised to take care as spray and sudden floods could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures. We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues.
