Bloomington police began searching for the suspect about 12:30 p.m. EDT in the sewers, said Bloomington Police Capt. Ryan Pedigo. Authorities said the suspect, who wasn't identified, . He was transported to a local hospital after being removed from a storm drain by police, officials said around 5:30 p.m. Indiana University Tuesday afternoon, saying a person was seen entering a storm drain near downtown. The alert said campus police were monitoring a sewer exit on the campus’ Dunn Meadow near Franklin Hall, where residents were sheltering in place.
“We are working with Utilities to determine the underground sewer tunnels that a person could fit in,” the Bloomington Police Department said in a tweet. The department said multiple agencies were on scene and assisting in the search in the city about 50 miles south of Indianapolis.The lengthy underground search left roads throughout downtown Bloomington blocked off, especially near sewer drain exits, Indiana University's student-run newspaper,
