Toronto police are making some changes to how they release information about missing people. They will no longer include the person's last name or their gend
They will no longer include the person’s last name or their gender.
The changes were made after consulting with the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit and the Missing and Missed Implementation Team . The goal is to better protect the missing person’s privacy while still sending out the information that is necessary and effective to locate them.“When full names are used in Missing bulletins, the Missing Person may be found, but their privacy remains missing,” said Nicole Corrado, the Community Representative of the Missing and Missed Implementation Team. “No one wants to be defined by their worst day.
Toronto police say there may be times where they do still release the information, for example, if a picture is not available. Each situation will be evaluated on an individual basis.Ctrl+Enter
