It was a wild night all around, with the Senators carrying the play for most of it.
There was more than enough entertainment for those who like goals.
Alex DeBrincat, Tim Stutzle and Drake Batherson all scored with the man advantage. Tkachuk picked up an assist on all three, plus the Pinto third-period goal. The Penguins also received goals from Jason Zucker, Evgeni Malkin and Mark Friedman. In recent weeks, neither Talbot nor Anton Forsberg has been able to find an extended rhythm in net, a major factor keeping the Senators from putting any kind of winning streak together. On most nights lately, they’ve lost the head-to-head goaltending match-up. Again Wednesday, the Penguins’ Casey DeSmith had the upper hand.
There was plenty for both Senators and Penguins fans to cheer in the opening 20 minutes, which finished up in a 2-2 deadlock.
