Electoral interference is a concern around the globe and it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that there are allegations of it happening here in Canada.
He, like every Prime Minister before him, must balance international and domestic policies and still be seen as doing politics locally. And now there’s the issue with allegations of electoral interference by China and its operatives.says a majority of Canadians believe the Chinese government did indeed attempt to interfere in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections.
“Well, first, the report that was issued, affirmed the federal election in 2021, was not compromised. Yes, there were efforts and attempts at foreign interference. But it did not compromise the result, which is very important, because it assures all Canadians that they and they alone are the ones who determine the results of our elections.
“So we are eyes wide open about this and we will continue to be upfront and transparent with Canadians as to how we protect our democratic institutions.”I’m sure there was the amplification of mis- and disinformation from both foreign and domestic interests.
