Saribel Deslauriers and Nicole MacDonald of the Truro Downtown Partnership know that there won't be much sleep, but they are looking forward to executing Truro Buskerfest happening at Civic Square. - Chelsey GouldTRURO, N.S.
The first buskerfest in 2019 brought more than a few thousand people to Inglis Place over three days, and DTP is building on that success now that COVID restrictions are lifted.“It has been exciting because we just want to see it all come together and make sure that we bring quality acts and also local acts," said Deslauriers. “Halifax might not give them the chance to perform because they're not well-renowned or international, but hey, you can come to Truro and can be discovered.
And the fun does not stop there. A section is being cordoned off for axe throwing with Halimax Axe, and a 3-D street painting by chalkmaster Dave Johnston will be available for pictures. As well, there will be carnival games supporting local non-profits, Henna tattoos with artist Vineeta Rajani, balloon animals, spray paint, and various vendors. The DTP staff are appreciative, excited, and ready for the non-stop workdays to come, bringing exciting festivals back after a slow two years.
“It's going to be my first time here seeing it and doing it,” continued Deslauriers, who moved to the community from Toronto a year ago. “So I think it's great after COVID, back a little bit of joy into the town.”
