Mauricio Hinds is the first person to describe himself as a 'raw' football player. Outside of one season with the Dartmouth Destroyers when he was 10 years ...
League games just started for CAI so Hinds' immediate goal is to play well enough to keep the offers coming. But he also wants to get stronger and leaner in the weight room and said his grade point average recently 'slipped' to 3.6 so he wants to get it back to where it usually is at 3.8.
"During the season we only lift twice a week and I'm at 270 now but I'd like to drop down to 260 and then put on 15 pounds of good weight," said Hines, who lives with seven other players in a house with two CAI teachers."Right now I'm 270 but pretty slim with mostly good weight but I want to bulk up a bit and have a little lower body fat."
Many of the elite football prospects in the States often don't commit until a few months into their senior year and Hinds said he too will likely take his time before choosing a school. He isn't planning to commit until when he's in Grade 12 because he knows the process has really only just begun for him.
And because the whirlwind is only just taking flight, Hinds knows how important it will be to stay level-headed over the next year or so. "That attention is always fun to get but the only problem is it's addicting," he said."You get a coach talking to you and then you get excited and really just want it to happen. But you've got to remember it's a process and you have to stay focused. My coach tells me all the time that if you enjoy the road to get there, it makes it so much better in the end.
