In 1983 and 1984 the Dodgers competed in the Richmond Intermediate A Baseball league. In both years, the Dodgers won the right to compete in the provincials and after finishing second in 1983 to Joggins, the team would not be denied in 1984 and won the provincial title against teams from Weymouth, Joggins, and Louisdale.
The team would later advance to the Atlantic championship tournament. The event was scheduled to be held in Saint John, N.B., however due to a lack of communication it was discovered that the tournament would be held in Belledune, a community 725-kilometres from New Waterford. Pius Burke, pitching his second consecutive game, was up to the task allowing only six hits, while a grand slam by Edison Clements in the fourth inning sealed the victory for the New Waterford club.
