Modack and 14 of his co-accused were back at the Western Cape High Court on Thursday, facing more than 100 criminal charges.
CAPE TOWN - The case against alleged underworld figure, Nafiz Modack, and others has been postponed to Monday to continue the cross-examination of the State's key witness, Hawks detective Edward du Plessis.
At the centre of this case is the assassination of former Cape Town top detective, Charl Kinnear, almost four years ago.Modack's lawyer, Mohamed Bashier Sibda, presented his client's version of events in court during Du Plessis’s cross-examination. He told the court that when the trial resumed on Monday, they would deal with the State's allegations that Modack hired his co-accused, Zain Kilian, to use a cellphone tracking platform to ping various targets for him.
Evidence previously presented by Du Plessis showed that Kilian pinged Kinnear several times before his murder in September 2020. It also showed that Kilian pinged prominent criminal defence lawyer, William Booth, before and after an attempt on his life in April of that same year.
