The Red Devils reacted to Greater Manchester Police's decision to discontinue the charges against the 21-year-old by launching an internal investigation of their own.
Greenwood is under contract at the club until 2025, but has not featured since being arrested in January last year after he was accused of rape and abuse by his then-partner. Questions remain as to whether the one-time England international will play for the 20-time English champions again, with there being a belief that it could be a risky decision when it comes to sponsors and team harmony., United will reportedly"consult leadership groups" within the men's and women's teams before coming to a decision, with the club said to be eager to gauge how both sides of United's senior squads feel about the situation.
It is believed a number of players at the club are worried about a potential return for Greenwood, with companies linked to United also concerned. Head coach Erik ten Hag has suggested that no call will be made before the end of the season as he is keen to avoid any distractions from now until May.
