LIVE: Ramaphosa heckled by ANC conference delegates, ANC KZN leaders attempt to silence disruptive delegates
The ANC National Conference is now running more than seven hours behind schedule. ANC officials continue to deliver empty promises on the start time after registration delays wreaked havoc with the programme.Almost five hours after the ANC national elective conference was set to start, delegates are still stuck at the registration centre in Ormonde, in the south of Johannesburg.
“Whoever wants to go to court must go to court but here, ANC branches will elect a leader. They mustn’t try to block others from leading at the last minute. President Jacob Zuma was allowed to lead. He was defended by this very ANC. We supported him throughout. He must allow others to lead. I am disappointed with the conduct of such leaders.”NEC member Pemmy Majodina said voting against the party line cannot be allowed.
The matter will be deferred to the incoming NEC and no MP will appear before the disciplinary committee for now.The ANC has taken a firm position against vote buying at its 55th national conference.
