LIVE: Delegate registration to blame for ANC conference delay
President Cyril Ramaphosa rejects with the"utmost contempt", former president Jacob Zuma’s abuse of legal processes and perversion of the ‘nolle prosequi’ provision.
Private prosecution is dependent on being issued a nolle prosequi certificate from the relevant Director of Public Prosecutions . A nolle prosequi certification issued by the National Prosecuting Authority confirms that it declined to prosecute. Only once this is issued, can private prosecution proceedings be instituted. Zuma said the charges relates to Ramaphosa "being accessory after the fact to crimes committed by among others Advocate Downer" in alleged breaches of the NPA Act.
President Ramaphosa has since referred the matter to the justice and correctional services minister, Ronald Lamola. It's day one of the ANC national elective conference and all eyes are on the Nasrec Expo Centre where the ANC will elect new leadership.
