It is well established that humanity has celebrated the “Return of the Light” for over 10,000 years, and that the Christian church in particular has unabashedly appropriated a great many ancient festivals, renaming them to suit its own agenda.
There are many more archaic holidays still celebrated today, but without quite the same religious fervour, such as: Groundhog Day, May Day, Harvest Home and Halloween
