I’m at a loss after listening to the scapegoating, ego-stroking comments from various council members trying to deflect from the issue at hand: lack of awareness, compassion and consideration. The fact of this particularly controversial matter is that the councillors who voted against the money, arriving in any form, got it wrong. If I had to guess, I’d think the councillors who initially voted in favour of this proposal/funding approached it with a ‘can-do’ attitude, and a mindset to figure it out. The others seem to have approached it with fear and concern for their constituents’ reactions.

The councillors made it clear they’re more concerned and stressed to hear from angry, privileged NIMBY advocates than they are for vulnerable folks who do, regardless of NIMBY opinions, need community support at times. The NIMBY advocates are their constituents, certainly not those who may be vulnerable citizens.
