Visitors to Strathclyde Park and Chatelherault were professionally photographed for the Park Portraits campaign

Three favourite Lanarkshire parks feature in a new online gallery created to promote a £1 million funding appeal to support outdoor spaces.

The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you.Mum and son Shona and Zac Bowie were photographed at Strathclyde Park, as were Rie Cushley and her family; while world and European boccia champion Steph McGuire told how he prepares for competition at Chatelherault near his Hamilton home.

Rie Cushley and her family love Strathclyde Park which they say “feels like home”, and where son Darren uses the accessible bikes available to hire from the watersports centre. Shona tells of how much Zac, who has autism, enjoys the cycling pump track which opened last year at the Bellshill side of the park and has been using at least twice per week throughout the school holidays.

Boccia champion Steph calls Chatelherault “the most beautiful park in South Lanarkshire” and told the exhibition how he gets ready for competition by walking its trails with fiancee and coach Michaela and discussing tactics, preparation and match plans.
