Since becoming a mother, Omuhle Gela has developed a passion to empower young moms.

is determined to continue fighting the barriers of the industry as well as policies that do not allow the average mom to live up to her full potential as an industry professional.

Since becoming a mother, she has a newfound respect for career moms, especially those in her industry. “I'm in awe that the Lord has given me such a beautiful responsibility of being a mother. The journey is not easy and it inspired me to create a platform for mothers called 'Moms Day Off', where, as women, we unwind and celebrate motherhood over a drink or two,” she said.

“The fifth instalment of what began an as a conceptualised idea has blossomed into what I am proud to call my second baby. The event is growing to be seasonal and I hope to connect with more mothers across the country.”MuvhangoOmuhle said becoming a mother showed her a different side to the TV and film industry.

“The TV and film industry in South Africa is not necessarily the easiest to break into. Even more, there is a bigger challenge to cement yourself as a seasoned professional. Even harder as a mother. At times, the problems are segmented and as a young black female thespian, the gatekeepers of the industry are not always as kind to us.”
