It is always open only after midnight, and closes sometime around 3am, though these hours are not exactly fixed.This results in a lot of yong tau foo fans hanging around the stall waiting, until the lights at the stall are switched on and customers surge forward to pick their choice morsels. As much as people love the stall for its comforting food, the experience of buying the yong tau foo also makes the midnight supper run much more fun.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Soon Li Yong Tau Foo was closed for a prolonged hiatus, and only recently reopened with earlier operating hours starting from around 9pm.But sadly, the uncle manning the stall has unexpectedly passed away. In a post on Facebook foodie group , fellow hawker Melvin Chew announced the Soon Li proprietor’s passing, which apparently happened this morning . His cause of death is unconfirmed.Netizens left condolatory comments on the post, including one stall customer, Edwin David Goh, who said: “I just saw him on Monday morning, he was in front of his stall cutting. I heard he had a heart attack this morning.” It is also unknown whether the stall will continue operating.
