The South African Post Office Amendment Bill will expand its offerings to include more government and ecommerce services.
The Department of Communication and Digital Technologies has been looking for greater assistance in turning around the Post Office this year.
The latest step being taken to around SAPO is to expand the range of services it offers. This as President Cyril Ramaphosa has assented the South African Post Office Added to this would be the ability to serve as a logistics partner to other ecommerce providers, including small enterprises and informal traders, along with any future business that a state-owned company may develop for South African citizens.
“The Post Office is now empowered to continuously adjust its business model in line with the technological and industry developments in the provision of postal services and other services and to enhance the provision of Universal Services Obligation, including the roll-out of service points and the use of third-party infrastructure,” government explained.
