Forensic officers have been seen combing a funeral directors in Glasgow this morning amid a probe into missing cash and ashes.
Police were seen at the A. Milne Independent Funeral Director's branch on Balornock Road in Springburn on Friday. Officers were seen making enquiries at the scene and, according to Glasgow Live, at least five cops have been spotted entering the premises wearing white boiler suits. It comes following reports that the family of Dennis Smillie had been waiting for his ashes for three years. Other families have said loved ones were left untouched for three weeks and they were allegedly refused refunds.
The National Association of Funeral Directors have confirmed A. Milne Funeral Directors is subject to a disciplinary process and a hearing is due to be held. Meanwhile, the A. Milne website is now inaccessible with an error message displayed onscreen. It is reportedly no longer operating.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An investigation is ongoing into to the conduct of a former funeral company that had branches in Glasgow and Dumbarton with regard to the storage/return of cremated remains and allegations of financial misconduct. Enquiries are at an early stage.
