The streetscape around Province House in downtown Charlottetown may be getting a whole new look.
Residents gathered to give input by speaking to city officials and leaving post-it notes on design images.Another said, “Looks like every outdoor patio project in the U.S.A. Where is the historical context?”“It’s very fancy. It’s not very nature-minded,” she said. “I think there are far too many pavers, I think there could have been a more natural done to take nature into consideration.”
“Maybe put it on hold, it’s all public money, I think it’s a lot of money to put into two streets when many streets throughout Charlottetown could really use repairs, sidewalks could use repairs. Scott Adams, manager of public works for Charlottetown, said the final number will definitely increase. “We would like to see … the city of Charlottetown’s councillors adopt this plan as their official version,” he said in an interview with SaltWire Network in advance of the public consultation.
