Previously banned Springbok ace Aphiwe Dyantyi is on the verge of joining the Bulls following his early release from the Sharks.
Aphiwe Dyantyi is now free to complete his shock switch to the Bulls, less than a year after signing for the Sharks following confirmation that the Durban-based union release him from contract.over the weekend, the Bulls and Sharks were in advanced talks about a move that would see Dyantyi move from Durban to Pretoria at the end of the season.
The potential transfer comes in the wake of Dyantyi’s underwhelming performance in Durban after signing a two-year contract with the Sharks following the completion of his four-year doping ban. During his short tenure at the Sharks, Dyantyi featured in just seven games, but didn’t manage to score any tries. On the back of that underwhelming return and with John Plumtree overhauling his squad, the winger has been granted an early exit.move to the Bulls goes through, he is likely to feature in their Currie Cup campaign, where’ll he’ll be looking to make a statement ahead of the next United Rugby Championship campaign.
Once in Pretoria, Dyantyi will join a stacked Bulls back division which includes the likes of Willie le Roux, Kurt-Lee Arendse and Canan Moodie, Sergeal Petersen, Devon Williams, Stravino Jacobs, Sebastian de Klerk, David Kriel and Henry Immelman.
