Andre Joubert was one of the greatest Springbok fullbacks of all time. We reflect on his rugby career, as well as what he's up to now.
Former Springbok Andre Joubert, the ‘Rolls-Royce of fullbacks’, enjoyed an illustrious career that spanned a golden era and left a special legacy.
In Durban, Joubert was instrumental in securing three historic Currie Cup titles for the Sharks, with his leadership and vision helping guiding the team’s overall play. His highlight undoubtedly came in the 1995 Rugby World Cup as he play a pivotal role in South Africa’s historic victory. Famously, Joubert’s determination even saw him take to the field with a broken hand in the final against New Zealand.
Joubert ventured briefly into some mentorship and coaching at a youth level, while also dabbling in some broadcast punditry.
