AMCU says NUM must accept that there is a new kid on the block.

The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union says the National Union of Mineworkers must accept that there is a new kid on the block.Reports had also suggested that AMCU representatives blocked access to the mine, preventing night shift workers from leaving.

Mphahlele says the situation will be clarified after their meeting with management on Tuesday morning. “NUM must just wake up to the call and agree to the fact that AMCU is there to stay. The nine workers that he talks about and say they are held hostage, we don’t know about those facts because they have not even gone down to the underground to see those facts they only rely upon what the mine is saying. This was a concerted effort by the worker and I’m not denying the fact that there might be problems down there because we did not also go under, the mine just told us.
