JOHANNESBURG - A situation on Monday is unfolding at the GoldOne-East Modderfontein mine, where more than 500 mine workers have not returned to the surface after their shift.
He says last week, the union approached the courts for approval for a strike and that the outcome thereof is currently pending. He says there are around 540 people underground but that they can’t confirm how many are being held and who is holding them.
