A stalling cold front has knocked down temperatures considerably, and a trough of low-pressure moving along this front is also bringing some needed rain to much of the region. Periods of rain and broken showers are forecast for western Nova Scotia, with rain also developing across most of Newfoundland today, which will be heavy at times for the Burin and Avalon peninsulas.

The weather pattern will remain unsettled for the remainder of the week, thanks to a deepening trough in the jet stream heading into the weekend.
