The latest in a series of storm systems is set to cross the western Maritimes Thursday and move through southeastern Labrador in the early hours of Friday. SaltWire weather specialist Allister Aalders breaks down what to expect across the region.
An intensifying Texas low will bring heavy precipitation and powerful winds to much of Atlantic Canada Thursday and Thursday night.Much of Atlantic Canada is bracing for wet and windy weather as we near the end of the week.
While some snow is possible on the leading edges, a change to rain is forecast across all of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland as temperatures soar.The rain could fall heavy at times, with the highest amounts expected along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, the Fundy coast of New Brunswick and the south coast of Newfoundland, with 30 to 50 mm of rain forecast, with local amounts of 50 to 70 mm on the Atlantic Coast, possibly higher on the south coast of Newfoundland.
Twenty to 30 cm of snow is forecast for northern New Brunswick and in Labrador from the Churchill Valley to Cartwright Junction and the Labrador coast from Natuashish to Black Tickle. Fifteen to 20 cm of snow is forecast for central New Brunswick before changing to rain, with five to 15 cm for southern New Brunswick and western P.E.I., before the transition.
