Wales qualified for their first FIFA World Cup finals since 1958 with a 1-0 play-off victory over Ukraine at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday. Read more ➡️

Ukraine were the side looking superior in the opening exchanges but it was Wales who threatened first when Dan James wriggled his way inside and surged towards goal before drilling a low shot just wide.

Fine work down the left from Ukraine saw a ball fizzed into the centre where defender Karavayev is free, but he miscues his shot and the chance goes begging. Five minutes after the break a sweeping Wales counter-attack resulted in Aaron Ramsey scuffing wide from close range after good work in the buildup from Neco Williams and James.
