Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla's insulting comments towards Floyd Shivhambu lead to disciplinary action within the party, raising questions about unity and leadership

Besides her second letter of apology which had Floyd Shivhambu ’s name, Duduzile Zuma -Sambudla is undergoing internal disciplinary action for insulting Shivhambu. The party held its first national high command meeting since last years’general elections. The meeting was to reflect on many issues including the party’s wonderful performance, however, Shivhambu faced a barrage of questions from the media who countered the Secretary-General’s all is well implications within the party.

In response to a question about Zuma-Sambundla’s last month rant on him including using f..word, the former Economic Freedom Fighters appeared to be in pain to talk about it, saying the matter was receiving attention somewhere for disciplinary action.

“MKP is the most unified party in the country as we speak. There is no member who has a name , surname and the ID who has ever come to our meeting and said there was something wrong with what we are doing. I think the Duduzile is being handled somewhere for disciplinary processes,” said Shivhambu. The former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter who also attended the Wednesday meeting shocked many social media users with her insulting comments on Shivhambu including a f* word. This sparked a huge debate with some counting Shivhambu’s days in the Umkhonto weSizwe Party given the closeness of Zuma-Sambudla to his father, however, Zuma senior reigned on her directing her to apologize or face expulsion from the party.

Shivhambu also dismissed the reported stand off between the KwaZulu-Natal legislature caucus leader Mervin Dirks and disgruntled party legislature members. It has been reported that there were two caucuses. The Secretary-General said there was no crisis, however, he confirmed that those party members that booed the provincial convener former premier Willies Mchunu in Pietermaritzburg recently have been charged and will be hauled to disciplinary committee.
