Former health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has called on all the upcoming ward councillors to make sure that the Pietermaritzburg is kept clean. Mkhize was speaking to WitnessKZN earlier on Monday after casting his vote

Speaking about Willowfontein, which is one of the areas struggling in terms of service delivery such as water, road and electricity, Mkhize said the person who becomes councillor of the area needs to work on issues facing the community.

However, some community members in this area say they have lost hope that they will never get development. “I have voted because it is my right to do but I am not hoping for anything. We always vote for ward councillors but they forget us after winning the elections. They only care about us when they want our votes.”
