Former South African President Jacob Zuma's attempt to privately prosecute President Cyril Ramaphosa has been dismissed by the Constitutional Court. The court ruled that Zuma's application lacked adequate explanation for the delay and had no reasonable prospects of success. This decision marks the final blow to Zuma's prolonged legal pursuit against Ramaphosa, which stemmed from an accusation of Ramaphosa's inaction regarding Zuma's complaint about prosecutor Billy Downer.

Zuma , who now leads the MK party, launched his private prosecution bid against Ramaphosa in 2022 ahead of the ANC’s 55th elective conference.

Former President Jacob Zuma has been dealt another legal blow after the Constitutional Court dismissed his application for leave to appeal in his private prosecution bid against President Cyril Ramaphosa.

During proceedings in the Gauteng High Court last year, Advocate Dali Mpofu, representing Zuma, said the former ANC leader was taking his private prosecution case against Ramaphosa to the Constitutional Court because the SCA dismissed a reconsideration application in May last year.

This case was also recently set aside after the High Court in Pietermaritzburg dismissed the private prosecution initiated by Zuma.
