A 68-year-old woman was injured after being punched in the head by a stranger in a lift at the City Hall MRT station in Singapore on New Year's Eve. Saniya, who works at the Supreme Court, was heading home from work when the unprovoked attack occurred. The elderly man, estimated to be in his sixties, punched her on the right side of her head before exiting the lift. Saniya reported the incident to station staff and called the police.
She sustained injuries to her head and neck, and her vision became blurry. Saniya's son, who rushed to her aid, said she also suffers from Parkinson's disease and the attack worsened her head tremors. He hopes to understand the motive behind the attack and seeks an apology from the perpetrator. Police are investigating the incident and the 88-year-old man is assisting with investigations for voluntarily causing hurt
