) and D.C. Metro Police Department issued a joint statement on Sunday, saying that the incidents were believed to be committed by the same suspect.
On March 9, a homeless man was attacked and eventually died from"multiple stab and gunshot wounds," the statement said. This incident occurred near the 400 block of New York Avenue in D.C. The statement issued by police said that the first incident in New York occurred at around 4:30 a.m. local time when a 38-year-old homeless man was shot in the arm while sleeping on King Street. Approximately 30 minutes later, NYPD officers responded to another incident where a homeless man was shot in the head and neck. The second victim was pronounced dead, police said.
