in New York and D.C. Brevard III was believed to have shot three people in Washington D.C. earlier this month, killing one of them. This past weekend, he allegedly shot two more homeless men in Lower Manhattan, police said. One of them succumbed to his injuries.
All of the shootings happened overnight as the victims were trying to sleep, police said. Mayor Eric Adams described the incidents as a "clear and horrific intentional act" targeting homeless individuals. The suspect’s aunt, Sheila Brevard, said she was surprised to learn of her nephew’s arrest on Tuesday.
