Changing town policies to increase the share of medium and higher-density housing in certain areas, including the Whitby GO Station, Port Whitby and urban centres and corridors.
“This council recognizes the need to increase the housing supply in Whitby and is pleased to make this commitment,” said Mayor Elizabeth Roy. “With the number of housing units already approved or in the approval process, Whitby is well on its way to meeting the target set by the province.” A number of municipal governments have argued the bill takes money away from public infrastructure and puts it in the pockets of developers.note Durham Region officials
