West Shore RCMP say they have arrested a suspected drug trafficker who allegedly preyed on homeless people.
On June 17, while conducting patrols of homeless encampments in Danbrook Park in Langford, officers saw a man who matched the description of a suspect who allegedly assaulted a homeless man.
“All members of this community deserve to feel safe including those experiencing homelessness. Any time we can disrupt the dealers that prey on them, it is a priority for us,” said Insp. Stephen Rose, operations officer of the West Shore RCMP. The 33-year-old was taken into custody, and officers found him to be in possession of over 30 grams of suspected methamphetamines and paraphernalia, and other evidence that led officers to believe he is a drug trafficker.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.He was later released on an undertaking for an assault.
