West Shore RCMP were conducting routine patrols of homeless encampments in Langford’s Danbrook Park last Saturday when they recognized a man as a suspect in an assault reported against a homeless person.Police took the 33-year-old Langford man into custody and found over 30 grams of suspected methamphetamines in his possession, along with paraphernalia and further evidence of drug trafficking.
He was later released from custody on conditions in relation to the assault, and a drug-trafficking investigation is ongoing.“All members of this community deserve to feel safe, including those experiencing homelessness,” said Insp. Stephen Rose, West Shore RCMP operations officer. “Any time we can disrupt the dealers that prey on them, it is a priority for us.”
