Nearly 3,000 Chatsworth residents said they sometimes would go for days without a shower.
CAPE TOWN - Residents of Chatsworth near Malmesbury are appealing to the Water and Sanitation Minister, Pemmy Majodina, to intervene in the area's water crisis.Their taps have been largely dry in recent months.Some claim that the municipality would, on random days, send fire trucks to supply them with unhygienic water.Their community leader, Nadia Phyllis, says the water is making the local children and elderly people sick.
The Swartland Municipality insists vandalism of water infrastructure has exacerbated the region's water woes. Chatsworth and Sivertown residents are appealing to the Swartland Municipality for a stable water supply. According to the residents people would walk kilometres to get one bucket of water or sometimes come back home without water after walking a long distance.
