Watch: Viral ‘Elizabedi’ fan finally meets his Springbok hero Eben Etzebeth

'You changed my name, hey?' Siya Dlamini, who gave Eben Etzebeth the 'Elizabedi' nickname, finally met the Springboks lock.

Siya Dlamini, the young Springboks fan who went viral for hilariously butchering Eben Etzebeth’s surname, got the opportunity of a lifetime when he met his hero during the Rugby World Cup champions’ trophy tour.The young man’s Tik Tok video, which had everyone in stitches, shows him standing in front of the TV as Etzebeth approaches the try line to score a try during the Springboks’ 28-29 smash and grab victory over Rugby World Cup 2023 host nation, France, on 15 October.

In a heartwarming video of the Springboks’ trophy tour Siya can be heard screeching the name “Elizabedi” once again as he runs to Etzebeth for a hug. As the pair embrace, the32-year-old Bok player can be heard saying, “You changed my name, hey?” to his fan.The “Elizabedi” moniker appears to be stuck on captain Siya Kolisi’s head. The flanker has been filmed usining it a couple of times, including on Thursday at the FNB Stadium.

The Springboks etched their names into the annals of rugby history by becoming the first team to ever win the coveted Webb Ellis Cup four times. This is after the Bokke beat the All Blacks 12-11 in the final. Currently, the team is on a trophy parade which started with a welcome ceremony at the Union Buildings on Thursday where Kolisi and the Boks arrived in a yellow and green bus to a cheering crowd and media entourage.The tour started in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Soweto and concluded at the FNB Stadium on Thursday, 2 November. The Boks will then take in Cape Town and Durban before concluding in the Eastern Cape on Sunday, 5 November.
