Rolling through the town...
A car in the shape of a giant cheese wedge, hay bales lining the road and a person in a Buzz Lightyear costume mean only one thing: The Soap Box derby is in town.
Hundreds turned out to watch the wacky race in Longridge this weekend, which saw competitors navigate obstacles in home-made cars, with their support team running along behind them. The Ribble Valley town's high street - Berry Lane - was transformed into a temporary race track with 30 DIY motor less vehicles racing down it.
The crowds watched on as teams including The Dirty Dumpers, Boomingly Brilliant in their aptly named Cheesy Cheesy Bang Bang vehicle and Ghost Rider competed for the number one spot.Besides the racing entertainment, families were also treated to off-track amusements with stores opening and available to browse with plenty of food and drink stalls on offer, too. Big screens were also erected to make sure no one missed out on any of the action.

In a statement, organisers announced the event would go ahead as planned, but with an amended running order to "provide time and space for reflection of the extraordinary contribution of Queen Elizabeth II.
