Volvo Cars has taken the wraps off the EX30 Cross Country, a new model designed to tackle both city streets and challenging off-road terrain. This addition to the EX30 lineup boasts a number of key upgrades that enhance its capability in rugged environments, while retaining the practicality of its city-focused sibling.
Volvo Cars, renowned for its commitment to durable and all-weather vehicles, has unveiled the EX30 Cross Country , a model tailored for adventurers seeking to explore beyond paved roads. Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo Cars, stated, 'We launched our first Cross Country car over 25 years ago, and this concept of durable and all-weather cars is core to the Volvo brand.
In Sweden, we face harsh winters, but we also like to make the most of them by getting out and exploring our amazing nature, even when it’s -20°C outside. That’s why we want to deliver a fully rounded experience, not simply a car, to our EX30 Cross Country customers.' The EX30 Cross Country combines practicality for city commutes with enhanced off-road capabilities. Boasting a range of up to 427km on a full charge and the ability to recharge from 10 to 80% in as little as 26 minutes, it remains suitable for urban environments. However, several upgrades distinguish it for venturing off the beaten path. A 18mm increase in ride height compared to the standard EX30 facilitates navigating uneven terrain. Larger wheels, with the option of 18-inch all-terrain tires, further improve its performance in rough conditions. Standard all-wheel drive provides enhanced traction on slippery surfaces, making it more capable in challenging weather. The EX30 Cross Country's design also sets it apart. Dark grey front and rear body panels contrast with the exterior, featuring a topographic etching of Sweden's Kebnekaise mountain range on the front panel. The door panels draw inspiration from native Swedish granite, reinforcing the model's rugged identity. Volvo has yet to disclose pricing or availability details for global markets. However, considering the Swedish automaker's success with NEVs in South Africa, the local EX30 range might include this Cross Country variant, balancing everyday usability and off-road prowess.
