Volvo brings back the popular Cross Country nameplate for its electric EX30 SUV, offering a range of 427 km and a rugged aesthetic. The EX30 Cross Country boasts revised styling, a raised suspension, and the flagship Twin Motor Performance powertrain.
Volvo has resurrected the Cross Country moniker for its new entry-level electric SUV, the EX30 . This spiritual successor to the V40 Cross Country boasts a range of 427 km on a single charge and is poised to arrive in South Africa before the year's end. While the EX30 Cross Country retains the same interior and front-end design as its standard sibling, it distinguishes itself through distinct aesthetic upgrades.
These include 18-inch alloy wheels (with optional 19-inch wheels), black wheel arch cladding, chunky black bumpers with front and rear skid plates, and a black panel spanning the width of the tailgate between the taillight clusters. The rear also features modified bumpers and the black panel. A darkened grille panel adorned with a topography monogram of the Kebnekaise mountain range in the Swedish Arctic completes the exterior makeover.Mechanically, the EX30 Cross Country receives a revised suspension that elevates its ground clearance by 19 mm compared to the regular EX30. Powering the Cross Country is the flagship Twin Motor Performance model, delivering 315kW and 543Nm from its 69-kWh battery pack. While the range has been slightly reduced to 427 km (from 460 km) likely attributed to the taller tires and suspension, the vehicle retains impressive performance, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. A DC fast charger can replenish the battery from 10-80% in 26 minutes. The EX30 Cross Country is scheduled for release in Europe and North America during the second quarter of the year. Its introduction in South Africa, however, remains pending approval. If approved, it is expected to command a slight premium over the standard Twin Motor Performance Ultra's price tag of R1 114 000.
