A US airman stationed at a Northamptonshire RAF base has been charged with rape. Lee Bogstad, 21, is accused of three counts of raping a woman, a UK citizen, at the airbase between November 2020 and February 2021.
Bogstad will appear before Northampton Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 29. A spokesperson for the force said: "Northamptonshire Police, which led the investigation with the full co-operation of the USAF, will make no further comment at this time." RAF Croughton was put in the spotlight in 2019 after teenage motorcyclist Harry Dunn was killed by American citizen Anne Sacoolas as she drove on the wrong side of the road after leaving the base.The site was built in 1938 and was originally known as Brackley Landing Ground until 1940 when it became RAF Brackley. After the Second World War, the United States Air Force took over the station.
